That's it! I'm going to go and give the small green lizards in my backyard a hug. Right now. They aren't so bad after all.

They are actually water monitors, a close cousin of the Komodo Dragon. These two were huge, standing on their back legs they were shoulder high to me. They were fighting, not hugging. I am not sure if it was part of a mating thing or not. Just after Dave snapped this shot a 3rd huge lizard came up and jumped in the fight. After a few moments and one of these ran away. I way too close, but what an amazing sight.

I'm not big on reptiles, so I'd be running away as fast as I could if I saw something like this in the wild. As the saying goes, 'feet don't fail me now.'

When my parents were missionaries in Indonesia (several years ago) we saw huge lizards like these. I wonder if they were the same kind?
