WARNING !!!

I have been driving in Malawi now for about three weeks. I have had more close calls with people than I have with other vehicles. People walk up and down the street on both sides and there isn’t much of a shoulder. I think when rainy season hits it will be much worse. In the America I never worried too much about pedestrians because they have their own walkway. As this is the case, the warnings on alcohol bottles in the states are geared more toward the drivers. You know “Don’t drink and drive”. Here in Africa they are geared more toward the pedestrian. I love the warning on this bottle of wine from South Africa. And after driving here it makes perfect sense.

Click on the picture and read the label.

I love this. The only time I came to a screeching halt on the road in Zambia was to avoid killing a drunk. The irony is that the pedestrians in this case, A. cannot afford this wine and 2. likely as not can't read this label. Still at least, good thought. BTW, you will get used to driving within a foot or two of pedestrians. It's the way it is. Now, will I remember to carry my own shopping bags and a euro coin so I can get me a shopping cart?

LOL! Too true! David seems used to driving by the pedestrians already. I am too chicken to drive yet.

You will start remembering after you have to use the little hand basket to do all your shopping because you forgot your euro coin and then have to buy bags at check out because you forgot to bring bags.

You could convert one of those extra employees into a driver!

Oh, that's good. They recognize they have an issue and are trying to do something about it.

Ha ha ha, that's funny! Something I never thought I'd read/hear in a different country.
