No story just daily traffic in Jakarta, motorcycles are a real pain! They weave in between the cars and at red lights they work their way past the cars and line up in front waiting for the lights to change. This is the view out the window of our van this morning. I will not miss motorcycles.
There are so many bikes because the average middle class Indonesian makes around $200 a month. Cars are only for the rich, for many people a motorcycle is THE family vehicle and they are lucky if they can afford one. The long sleeves and coats are for protection. It hurts if the bike in front of you kicks up a pebble or if you fall off the bike the coat may save you a little skin.
That's awesome! When I spent time in Milwaukee every summer many years ago I would always see the Hog convention. So amazing! For about a week there would be motorcycles on the road everywhere you went.

Argh - being wordless, there's no real explanation here. What's the story?

Wow, That's a lot of bikers!
That is one traffic jam i do not want ti have to deal with!
Now that's a mess. This Friday, like every Friday 13th, thousands of people will ride their bikes and meet in Port Dover, Ontario.
Many people I know (from work, church, whatever) have already taken the day off because nobody wants to miss it! :-)
Thank you for dropping by and commenting on my post today.
I really appreciate all the nice comments I received.
Now that is very interesting traffic. With the price of gasoline maybe we'll see more of that in the states...
Oh my! Time to get off the sidewalk!
that is one heck of a lot of motorcycles!!
vroom, vroom!
(sorry, I'm around gremlins all day...)
WOAH!! That's a lot of motorcycles! There seem to be more motorcycles than cars, but good choice especially with the petrol price hike :P
p/s: Those flowers in my APAD-WW post are offerings for the deities at the temple :)
Why are there so many bikes there? Being in such a hot area, why the long sleves and coats?

I'm certain you're not going to miss this aspect of life in Jakarta, Shannon. Happy WW.

Ah yes, how could I forget? You'll miss it when you leave. I do (but Lynne doesn't yet).
