Then we stumbled across Butterfly World which had butterflies, lots of gorgeous butterflies, but also monkeys, birds, and reptiles. One of the birds stole the button off the top of Colin's hat but gave it back when David held out his hand and sternly ordered the bird to "Give it back!" I wish the kids listened as well as that bird.
Next came Cool Runnings dry land luge where all the boys felt the need for speed. Ok so maybe the parents did too.
We ended the day with dinner at a beach side restaurant. The wind was really blowing so we were glad to be able to eat indoors out of the wind. The boys were hoping to play on the beach afterward but trying to walk on the beach was like getting sandblasted so the walk didn't last long.

That luge looks like so much fun! I am curious -- was the sign we see the back of a warning regarding breaking or was it another Baboon sign?
It says something like BRAKE NOW! END OF TRACK 30 METERS! If you failed to break fast enough this wall of plastic stops hanging down smacked you in the face pretty hard and it stung a bit and an employee yelled at you to slow down just as the plastic hit you, not that I would know anything about that.
All the baboon signs were along the coastal roads. Apparently the baboons on the western cape like shell fish as well as mooching off people and since both can be found along the beaches......
Well at least you are warned before you get smacked. That reminds me a bit of an ice luge I went on In Harbin, China at the Ice Festival. But there were no brakes at all. You just tried to keep your elbows in while you ricocheted off less friendly curves. The ice chips stinging your face helped you keep your eyes closed so you didn't freak about the snow wall you crashed into at the base to mark the end of the track and your turn. Like a bug on a windshield it was. I was just so happy to be alive that I laid their laughing until several Chinese men ran out and dragged me by my hair and scarf and boots off the track before the next victim arrived at the end of their turn. I like your luge version much better, even if it ends with a plastic smack. If we ever get to Cape Town again I will seek this place out!
