I got to the point where I didn't mind it, but I was happy to spend enough in the grocery store to get a free turkey this year :)
I do think your boys are in a great place for them! The stories they'll tell as adults--of frogs and snakes and lizards! YOu're a great mom--I don't think I'd do so well with all of that!Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8896182951003656236.post-41128037124312181712011-11-29T17:53:25.161+04:002011-11-29T17:53:25.161+04:00Thanksgiving is one of the hardest holidays for me...Thanksgiving is one of the hardest holidays for me missing my family, my family-of-origin. After Hubby and I married we never lived near my folks, but oh-so-often they would come and see us. My Dad always makes the turkey. It's just "our" holiday. And so it is just harder. . .

Love the image of you wanting to call your husband to warn him of the pile up on 410!TulipGirlhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10491713586488210547noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8896182951003656236.post-56611871407831074372011-11-29T07:00:37.429+04:002011-11-29T07:00:37.429+04:00So understand where you are coming from on this d...So understand where you are coming from on this day. We opted for chicken as well - roasted on the brai outside, along with carrots. No sweet potatoes or stuffing. Managed pies with homemade ice cream, mashed potatoes, and fresh green bean casserole. Meal was simple and we celebrated on Sunday prior with a TDYer. Not exactly the Thanksgivings I remember from home, but with family a friend and cozy.Nomads By Naturehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06893950431543999751noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8896182951003656236.post-46247224886723037142011-11-26T11:51:54.844+04:002011-11-26T11:51:54.844+04:00You've captured perfectly the melancholy that ...You've captured perfectly the melancholy that a lot of us face around the holidays. It's the time of year that being in the FS makes us feel downright FOREIGN...and too far from our roots.

Besides, turkeys should always come with a pop up button to tell us when it's done & never cost more than about $20 (says the girl who spent $60 for her bird this year...).

Happy Thanksgiving to you! And artichokes from seed? WOW!!! Yum!

NKLLeesOnTheGohttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15324645866349920944noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8896182951003656236.post-13234649115110438412011-11-25T05:46:39.385+04:002011-11-25T05:46:39.385+04:00Happy Thanksgiving!
