Beautiful! I love watching them - it's amazing to see them grab a bee, bash it against something to stun it and then toss it up and eat it like it was popcorn. Poor little bees don't have a chance.

Nomads if you click on the pic to blow it up you will see the back bee eater has just tossed a bee up into the air like a piece of popcorn. They are so pretty but you never see them around Lilongwe.

Thanks Gabriel. The wildlife in Africa is totally amazing.

THAT IS SO COOL!!! How did you get it at just that moment? That is some serious talent!!! I loved watching these in the Middle East - haven't seen them yet in Africa. Will have to look harder.

Nomads - When we saw the bee eaters we switched the settings on the camera so it take about a hundred jillion pictures per second and started shooting like mad. I only had to dig through the resulting several hundred pictures of bee eaters to find the one I wanted.

I love digital photo technology, but man is taking up a lot of space on our hard drive.

Worth it! I've got to try that setting more often.

Digital photography rocks... but it still takes a good photographer to catch the shot! Beautiful birds :)
